Discovering Sound Healing

When my husband and I lived in our condo in Stuart, Florida, we met some new neighbors, Deena and Rob. They were affiliated with the Elliott Museum, which was right down the street. We learned that Rob is the CEO of the Historical Society of Martin County, which oversees the museum, and Deena was starting a new business centered around healing, to be based at the museum. Deena invited me to her first event, which was something called a sound bath. She told me I would love it, so I went.

Donning my yoga mat, pillow and blanket, I arrived to find about forty or so people and three practitioners setting up. Deena explained the instruments would accompany a guided meditation to start, then the instruments would take over.

As soon as it started, we were all transported to a magical state of mind. The guided meditation began as the instruments played softly in the background. Once it was over, we were in such a relaxed state, some of us fell asleep (as was indicated by the soft snores heard around the room). The instruments continued playing for about an hour, after which I began to awaken. I was in such a beautiful trance state, it felt as if I had been under hypnosis. Deena was right, I did love it. 

That was about six or so years ago, and Deena was so moved by the healing powers of sound that she began educating herself in different types of sound healing as well as other healing modalities. Today, Deena Rahill performs her own sound baths at the Elliott Museum. She is an accomplished sound practitioner with a thriving business. She is also a good friend.

Deena’s work has brought healing to hundreds of people, including myself. I am privileged to have been a witness to her journey and growth. Deena’s YouTube channel and Facebook page allow her to share her sessions for those unable to attend.

I used to tell Deena that she should release an album, because there is no one else that puts on a sound healing session like she does. I was very excited to learn she’d recently had a session professionally recorded and was offering it for sale on her website, www.soundvibration.net. I am happy to say I was one of the first people to purchase it and it is an amazing recording!  I am honored to have been a witness to her journey and her friend.
